Carter at 9.5 months

Carter has been a happy camper this month. He and I have enjoyed the mild weather and have been taking walks every day after work. He is fascinated by birds, cars, trees and airplanes and is warming up to dogs.

It is surprising how chipper he has been considering he has had ear infections, colds and now pink eye. It looks like it is clearing up though hopefully.

He has taken a break from learning to become mobile and is working on learning how to do other stuff. He is learning many new concepts. One of which is on and off. Whenever I say those words, he instantly looks up at a light even if I am talking about him turning on his toy.

He is working more on communicating as well. I was getting concerned about his lack of babbling, but fortunately he has begun to make other sounds besides "Ah." He now loves to imitate roars, ma ma and b b b sounds. He roars nearly every time he sees a bear or if you call him a bear. He has begun to moo whenever you say the word cow and moo. He waves bye bye pretty consistently and is clapping his hands. He still says uh uh whenever he drops something. It is exciting to see these sounds coming out of him.

He is enjoying more books now and has favorite pages. One of his books about dogs has a dog that pees whenever you pull a tab. Wouldn't you know, that that is his favorite page?!! Lord help us. He is obsessed with the Brown Bear pages of the Eric Carle book. He won't let me advance to the other animals until he has re-read the brown bear page at least 5 times, and he has to kiss the peacock's shiny blue tail in the Tails book.

He is an active boy. He doesn't like to be confined to high chairs or play yards. He is eating pretty much everything we give him, but does not eat much of it. He loves milk and still prefers it from the bottle to the sippy cup. He likes water from the sippy cup but won't drink more than 2 oz of milk from the cup. I am wondering if I am going to be able to give up the bottle at 1 year as I had planned.

Well I have written a book, so I am going to sign off.
